ΦΙΛΑΝΘΡΩΠΙΑ
The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, Inc. is the philanthropic arm of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America that has offered eighty years of philanthropy through a multitude of programs that make a difference in the lives of people in the United States and throughout the world. The Society was established in November 1931, by the late Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras I, who was then serving as Archbishop of North and South America.
Philoptochos fulfills its mission through its National and Metropolis Boards and its 485 Chapters and 27,500 members nationwide.
Mission Statement
The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, Inc., is the duly accredited women's philanthropic society of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, whose mission is:

To aid the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the aged, the sick, the unemployed, the orphaned, the imprisoned, the widowed, the handicapped, the victims of disasters, to undertake the burial of impoverished persons and to offer assistance to anyone who may need the help of the Church through fund raising efforts; and

To promote the charitable, benevolent, and philanthropic purposes of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, through instructional programs, presentations, lectures, seminars and other educational resources;

To preserve and perpetuate Orthodox Christian concepts and the Orthodox Christian Family, and through them, to promote the Greek Orthodox Faith and traditions, in accordance with its doctrines, canons, discipline, divine worship, usages and customs;

To promote participation in the activities of the Greek Orthodox community, with the cooperation of the Parish Priest and the Parish Council.

The charitable work of the Society shall be performed with discretion, courtesy and kindness.

Για περισσότερα από έξι χρόνια, εθελοντές από το κεφάλαιο της Αγίας Αναστασίας Κυρίες Φιλόπτωχος, υπό την ηγεσία της Elaine Daravingas, συγκεντρώνονται το δεύτερο πρωί της Τρίτης κάθε μήνα στην Τράπεζα Τροφίμων Harry Chapin της Νοτιοδυτικής Φλόριντα στη Νάπολη, Φλόριντα για να προετοιμάσουν, κουτί, ή σακούλα τροφίμων, λαχανικών και φρούτων. Αυτή η τράπεζα τροφίμων παρέχει τρόφιμα σε περισσότερους από 28.000 ανθρώπους κάθε εβδομάδα που διαμένουν στις πέντε περιφερειακές κομητείες μέσα και γύρω από τη Νάπολη. Περίπου το 26 τοις εκατό των ατόμων που εξυπηρετούνται από τον Χάρι Τσάπιν είναι παιδιά και το 15 τοις εκατό είναι ηλικιωμένοι. Οι περισσότεροι πελάτες του Χάρι Τσάπιν είναι εργατικές οικογένειες που παλεύουν να τα βγάλουν πέρα. Πολλές από αυτές τις οικογένειες λαμβάνουν φαγητό μέσω του Προγράμματος Κινητών Ντουλάπας Harry Chapin. Ο χρόνος των αδελφών μαζί για να βοηθήσουν τους άλλους έγινε όχι μόνο ένας χρόνος εξυπηρέτησης σε όσους έχουν ανάγκη, αλλά μια στιγμή της εβδομάδας για τη δημιουργία και την καλλιέργεια των δεσμών της αδελφοσύνης.

Μέσα από τη γενναιοδωρία των μελών της Αγίας Αναστασίας και καθενός από τους ενορίτες της Αγίας Αικατερίνης, το κεφάλαιο Φιλοπότοχος μας παρέχει υποστήριξη σε πολλές οντότητες και γείτονες που έχουν ανάγκη. Το ετήσιο έργο Angel Tree Giving Project συγκέντρωσε $ 1500 για τους Collier Senior Resources και το Golden Gate Senior Center. Το εναρκτήριο φαγητό μας «Ο Φιλόπτωχος δίνει ευχαριστίες» Food Drive παρήγαγε πάνω από 3500 λίβρες μη φθαρτών προϊόντων, τα οποία ταξινομήθηκαν σε δέκα καλάθια τροφίμων. Αυτά τα καλάθια τροφίμων διανεμήθηκαν σε οικογένειες χαμηλού έως μέτριου εισοδήματος σε όλη την κομητεία Collier, συμπεριλαμβανομένων οικογενειών που αγοράζουν σπίτια από το Habitat for Humanity και οικογένειες μαθητών που φοιτούν στο Manatee Middle School στη Νάπολη. Το ετήσιο Χριστουγεννιάτικο γεύμα Philoptochos χρηματοδότησε το πρόγραμμα δώρων Salvation Army/US Marine Corps Toys-4-Tots. Πάνω από 100 παιχνίδια για παιδιά κάθε ηλικίας δωρίστηκαν, φωτίζοντας τα Χριστούγεννα των παιδιών στην περιοχή της Νοτιοδυτικής Φλόριντα. Τον Μάρτιο το κεφάλαιο και η ενορία μας θα χορηγούν για άλλη μια φορά το μηνιαίο γεύμα για τους συμμετέχοντες του Ιδρύματος ικανότητας STAR, το οποίο παρέχει υπηρεσίες, εκπαίδευση και υποστήριξη για άτομα με ειδικές ανάγκες.
